ZOB at Exalt Festival 2024: a look back at an immersive closing between industrial techno and dark visuals

With Exalt Festival 2025 just around the corner, we take a look back at one of last year's highlights: the performance by ZOB, who brought the digital arts festival to a fitting close with a unique DJ/VJ set featuring rave techno on the sound system and stroboscopic visuals on the giant screen.

A total audiovisual performance to close the digital art festival

Presented under the title ΣИ]ζΠΔ (ENIGMA), this creation fused dark, incisive live techno with real-time VJ projection. The stage was transformed into a sensory space, bathed in monochrome textures and semi-analogue glitches in the form of loops from the Dark Techno VFX Pack, designed by the same artist.

First presented on YouTube as part of our ΣИ]ζΠΔ Techno Podcast series, ZOB delivers a gripping performance: an abrasive, immersive sound narrative, supported by hand-crafted visual work, between collecting, scanning and retouching images to finally create video loops that fit together perfectly on the basis of the 4, 8, 16 or 32 beats of the musical metronome to make a rave techno aesthetic palpable.

The Dark Techno VFX Pack used in its hybrid performances has been designed for VJs and visual artists looking for a set of looped animated assets worked in a unified aesthetic to remain consistent in its artistic direction. It contains :

The 2025 edition of Exalt Festival is approaching, and immersive performances will once again be at the heart of the programme.
